REFERENCE TO THE ERECTION OF MODULAR COMPLEXES

The modular buildings consisting of 42 no bays arranged as a double storey complex. All modules will be erected at Upper Brook Street.

The proposed programme of works will commence on Mon 18th April 05.

Installation of Modular Building

All lifting apparatus will carry safety certificates.

All Certificates will be checked before commencing work.

The method of communication will be by recognised hand signals or if direct vision is not possible between the crane driver and the banksman, two-way radios will be used.

As the building is to be lifted over a wall onto the foundations two banksmen will be in operation on the site with two way radio’s.

The crane will be operational on site complex with long chains and strops. The crane will be sited as close as possible to the lift, Outriggers will be lowered onto 4” thick timber mats to protect the ground.

The employee will via a double ladder footed by another employee climb onto the roof, connect the safety harness to a fall arrest block (which is connected to the crane hook). Four threaded lifting eyes will then be fitted to the corners of the module to enable the 4 leg chains to be connected. The employee will then disconnect from the fall arrest block and climb back down the ladders

They will then instruct the crane operator to lift vertically that individual unit off the transport and carefully lower onto the prepared foundations. The transport will then be directed off the designated area.

The employee will then climb back onto the roof using the same method as above. Remove the chains and unscrew the four lifting eyes. The employee will then climb back down using the same method as above. This procedure will be completed for all units.

Access to the roof area using the same method as above will be used to enable the roof seals to be carried out. The roof seals on this complex are steel “U” shaped cappings that are fitted over the modules up stands.

The external wall joints will be pointed up with sealant to form a waterproof joint. Access will be via stepladders.

All interior plasterboard cover laths on the ceilings and walls will then be replaced. The new laths will then be painted to match the existing finish.

The timber floor infills will be fitted bringing the joints to the finished floor level. The joint will then be levelled with a mixture of screed & latex before the floor vinyl finish is laid.

The internal electrics will be installed and electrical Dead test will be carried out prior to connection to the mains power.

If power is not available on site for the use of small 110v hand tools, generators (with drip tray) will be used together with battery operated tools. All equipment is regularly tested.

A site survey will be carried out to ensure that the site has no overhead obstructions and that the site has suitable access for craneage and transportation. A crane method statement will be completed following to site survey.
