Tarmac National Contracting
Site Accommodation
The Requirement
Tarmac National Contracting has been awarded a highways maintenance contract for the West Midlands, worth £7m a year for up to eight years. A site office building was required to a challenging timescale in order to mobilise the contract and accommodate up to 50 civil engineering site and project staff.
The Solution
The site office solution was provided by ConstructionSpace, the site accommodation service from Foremans, in just five weeks from receipt of order to handover. The pre-owned modular building was sourced by ConstructionSpace, significantly reducing the lead time compared to a new building, and providing a more sustainable solution for Tarmac.

The site office building in Walsall comprises:
- open plan office accommodation
- cellular offices
- meeting room
- shower room
- welfare facilities with kitchenette
Comments from the Client
Jason Suffolk, Contracts Manager, Tarmac National Contracting:
"ConstructionSpace provided us with a building solution that suited both our design requirements and our budget for the building. Sustainability is also important for every Tarmac scheme and so the fact that the modules are recycled was a further benefit of this approach."
"ConstructionSpace sourced, delivered and installed the building to a challenging timescale in order to meet the deadline for the start of our contract."
The Approach
The ConstructionSpace approach uses recycled modular buildings to provide site accommodation at a fraction of the cost and up to 70 per cent faster than new manufacture.
ConstructionSpace offers a site-to-site service, which eliminates double handling charges and reduces the cost of site accommodation for buildings from 100sqm to 3,000sqm and in both single and multi-storey configurations.
All ConstructionSpace buildings also have the benefit of a three-month warranty, and are available for sale. There is a buy-back option for buildings purchased - making this a highly cost-effective alternative to hire, and ConstructionSpace will buy quality modular site accommodation that is surplus to contractors' requirements.
